Field Study #6  Date:  November 26, 2022 Time:  11:30  Length of day:  9 hours 49 minutes Temperature:  52 degrees Fahrenheit  Weather:  Cloudy, slight breeze. Close up of a deer print left in the mud  Grass near the creek Picture of the location Notes  Final day, the weather wasn't awful even though it was late November. I was out for half an hour before to sketch my sound map and stayed another fifteen minutes later to finish my sketch. During that time I was able to really take in my surroundings and notice smaller details I overlooked earlier. Because the grass was all flattened, I could easily reach the creek and I found a couple more crayfish holes as well as the deer print in the picture above.  I have no idea what the round thing growing through the grass is in the fourth picture. At first I thought that it was a seed but the outside was super hard and not all of the grass had the weird growth. My second guess is that it may...

 Field Study #5  Date: November 10, 2022  Time: 11:40  Length of day: 10 hours, 31 minutes  Temperature: 55 Degrees Fahrenheit, 64 percent humidity  Weather: Cloudy   Notes  The top photo is the same location as the other previous photos, you can clearly see the difference, primarily in the brush and the trees, notice how the brush is less dense and the trees have less foliage. I was finally able to crawl my way through the brush and reeds to get to the creek and the first thing I spotted was a crayfish mound. The crayfish use these mounds or 'chimneys' as a safe place to hide from predators and to lay their eggs. They scoop up sediments like sand, mud, and dirt and pat it all down with their tail. In the picture below that, you can see a water pipe draining into the creek. When I was younger, this drainage pipe is where I spent most of my time.
